WHEN SUNLIGHT STARTED THROWING HANDS

Dabura Karaba’s Light, Darkness, and terrifying Domain Expansion may have created Jujutsu Kaisen’s most destructive Cursed Technique yet.

Dabura finding out he's getting addicted to the battle against Mahoraga

Dabura Karaba’s Light technique has crashed into Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo like a cosmic eviction notice, making even Gojo’s Limitless and Sukuna’s Shrine look nervously over their shoulders like...Say whaaa?

A new monster enters

For years, Jujutsu Kaisen had a fairly understandable power hierarchy.
Gojo Satoru had the Limitless and the Six Eyes—the divine cheat-code combo that made distance itself look unemployed. Ryomen Sukuna had Shrine, an absurdly lethal technique wielded by a man who treated cities like decorative birthday cakes. Then there was Fumihiko Takaba’s Comedian, a reality-warping nightmare disguised as a stand-up routine.
The system was already broken.
Then Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo introduced Dabura Karaba and apparently decided the word “balance” had no place in this household.
Dabura, a member of the Deskunte tribe from the extraterrestrial Simurian race, arrived in the story with a reputation comparable to the King of Curses himself. That alone is dangerous information. You do not casually introduce someone as Sukuna-level unless you are prepared for the ceiling to crack, the floor to explode, and the fandom to start power-scaling with military-grade calculators.
But Dabura’s real threat did not become clear until his clash with the Divine General Mahoraga.
Because the man did not merely shoot light.
He made light decide it had unresolved anger issues.

Light with murder on its mind

Dabura possesses two core Cursed Techniques: Light and a horrifying inherited ability described as Murderous Intent.
The latter is passed down through the Deskunte tribe and is so alien in nature that its real name cannot be pronounced by humans. It is essentially killing instinct given a physical, destructive form. That already sounds like the kind of ability that should come with a warning label, a containment unit, and at least three adults yelling, “Who left the bags of idiots open?”
The narrator’s description in Modulo Chapter 15 puts the menace in plain terms:
“Dabura Karaba’s technique. — and Light. — is an ancient and vast killing instinct brought to life that is passed down through the Deskunte tribe, and its name is impossible to pronounce for humans. For the first time in history, Mahoraga’s adaptation against an extraterrestrial being begins.”
Against Mahoraga, Dabura immediately combined Light with Murderous Intent and skewered the Divine General from top to bottom. On virtually anyone else, that would have been the end of the conversation, the meeting, the building, and perhaps the postal code.
But Mahoraga is Mahoraga.
Its ability to adapt to phenomena
made it one of the only beings capable of surviving long enough to force Dabura into revealing what he could truly do.

When speed became a threat

Dabura’s Light stopped being an impressive energy attack and started looking like the franchise’s biggest power escalation when he applied the technique to himself.

Rather than simply hurling light at Mahoraga, he used it to move at sublight speeds.
Holup, wait a minute… som’ting ain’t right.
Because moving at sublight speed is not just “fast.” It is “the author has opened the fridge, found the power ceiling, and thrown it into the sun” fast.
The manga frames this breakthrough as a moment of Dabura forcing his body beyond its natural limits:
“I’ll pummel him to death until these hands of mine wither away and crumble. I’ll shatter my limits and bring out my body’s full potential.”
“Unventured by Mankind. Dabura Karaba dances at sunlight speeds!”
At that point, Dabura could move and throw attacks at speeds approaching light itself. The destructive implications are massive. GameRant’s reading is that this output could theoretically threaten the planet, with Mahoraga’s adaptation being the major reason their battle did not immediately become a global tragedy written in debris.
Now, power-scaling language can get wild enough to make a Sea King ask for calmer discourse. Still, the core point holds: Dabura’s combat performance is portrayed as operating on a destructive scale that previous Jujutsu Kaisen techniques have not clearly reached.
Gojo could make space untouchable.
Sukuna could carve through almost anything.
Dabura may be able to turn the battlefield into a light-speed demolition zone.
Damn, homeboy—that’s gotta hurt.

Darkness is the cruel punchline

As if Light and Murderous Intent were not enough, Dabura then unlocked the reversal of Light.
In Jujutsu Kaisen, a Cursed Technique Reversal changes a technique’s normal function through reverse cursed energy. Gojo’s own reversal turned the attractive force of Blue into Red, an explosive repulsive force with greater output.
Dabura’s reversal does something equally alarming: Light becomes Darkness.
In Modulo Chapter 20, Darkness manifests as a small shadow-like mass between Dabura’s palms, apparently capable of pulling surrounding matter toward itself. The manga has not fully revealed its limits, but that is almost worse. Any technique that looks like a tiny artificial void and comes from a fighter already operating at sublight speeds is not something one should describe as “promising.”
It is a problem.
A problem with gravity.
And probably an attitude.
If the reversal follows the same broad logic stated for Gojo’s Red—where reversal output is greater than the original technique—then Darkness may eventually prove even more destructive than Light. That remains an inference rather than a confirmed fact, since the story has not yet revealed the full ability.

The domain with no escape route

Dabura’s power climb did not stop at Light or Darkness.
During the Mahoraga battle, he unveiled a Domain Expansion named:
“Other World Between Darkness and Light: Reverse Transcendence.”
That name is so unnecessarily majestic that it sounds like somebody challenged a poet to name a black hole during a sword fight.
Yet the title fits the scale of the technique.
A Domain Expansion is normally the pinnacle of a sorcerer’s jujutsu: a closed space where the user’s technique gains a sure-hit effect. With Dabura’s domain seemingly combining Light and Darkness, the potential sure-hit effect could be brutal. If an enemy cannot escape from attacks powered by his existing techniques, the fight could be over before they understand what just hit them.
The full capabilities of Other World Between Darkness and Light: Reverse Transcendence have not been shown. Mahoraga’s fight was interrupted before readers could see the Domain’s complete rule set or final destructive limits. But its ingredients are already alarming enough: one technique weaponises light, its reversal appears to manipulate a darkness-like attractive force, and Dabura’s raw fighting potential pushed Mahoraga to adapt to an extraterrestrial phenomenon.
Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine remains one of the most lethal Domains ever seen.
Gojo’s Unlimited Void remains one of the most conceptually devastating.
But Dabura’s Domain might be the first one that makes the phrase “please let the sure-hit effect miss” feel like a reasonable religious practice.

Strongest, but not finished

The wildest thing about Dabura is that Modulo has not portrayed him as fully developed.
He achieved his Light-speed breakthrough, unlocked Darkness, and manifested his Domain in the middle of a battle against Mahoraga. That is not gradual character growth. That is a person opening new software updates during a boss fight.
His evolution was interrupted when Maru sent him back to Simuria to void the exorcism ritual that would otherwise have killed Yuka Okkotsu. By the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 25, released on March 6, 2026, Dabura was implied to have returned to Earth—and now appears to actively enjoy battle.
That last part should concern everyone.
A terrifyingly powerful character is one thing.
A terrifyingly powerful character who has learned that fighting is fun? That is how you get a future problem with a soundtrack.
GameRant did the original cursed archaeology; I just arrived with the pepper, stared directly into this solar-powered menace, and asked why Mahoraga was being asked to adapt to the entire concept of “outside.” Their central conclusion—that Dabura’s Light currently stands above prior techniques in sheer destructive potential—is rooted in the escalating feats shown during his Mahoraga fight.
Dabura Karaba may already have the strongest Cursed Technique in Jujutsu Kaisen’s evolving world.
But the truly terrifying thought is this:
What happens when he finally learns how to use all of it?
