Gohan Beast stands amid magenta lightning with silver hair blazing
Gohan spent years being Dragon Ball’s most talented underachiever: a potential god-tier fighter who chose books, family, and a sensible haircut over saving the universe every Tuesday. Then Cell Max showed up, Piccolo “died,” and Gohan unlocked Beast—the form that finally made the fandom stop asking “what if?” and start asking “who exactly is he stronger than?”
Beast is not divine. It is not a Saiyan god ritual. It is Gohan’s own monstrous potential finally waking up, and that is exactly why it hits harder than another recycled Super Saiyan color.
What Beast Actually Is
Beast is an evolution of Gohan’s Ultimate state, built on every awakening he has had since childhood. Toriyama said the name came from the idea that “the wild beast within has awakened,” and the design leans fully into that: white brows, silver hair, red eyes, and a magenta lightning aura that looks like Gohan’s trauma finally got a color palette.
It also mirrors his original Super Saiyan 2 moment against Cell. In Super Hero, Gohan transforms after seeing Piccolo apparently killed by Cell Max—rage, loss, and inherited potential colliding in one cinematic scream. The Funimation dub even echoes young SSJ2 Gohan’s scream during the transformation, because Dragon Ball never lets a callback go to waste.
“The beast within me—has awoken!”
— Gohan (Beast), Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
How Strong Is He, Really?
beast form gohan
Strong enough that Bulma believes he could be stronger than Goku and Vegeta. Strong enough that Whis suggests him as a God of Destruction candidate. Strong enough that Beerus rejects him—not for power, but because Gohan has the wrong personality for divine destruction.
Against Cell Max, Gohan Beast shrugged off a full-power punch, destroyed the villain’s Explosive Scream, and vaporized his core with a Special Beam Cannon. In the manga, the fight is closer, but Gohan still overwhelms Cell Max after a brief stalemate.
Then comes the spicy part: Gohan Beast fought Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku and looked even. At maximum output, his raw power and speed appeared superior—he even knocked Goku out of Ultra Instinct temporarily. Goku’s experience, technique, and Autonomous Ultra Instinct kept the fight balanced, but that alone should end the “Gohan is washed” conversation forever.
The Reddit Scaling War
The power-scaling community has been arguing about Beast Gohan like it is a court case, and honestly, the evidence is messy in the best way. He overpowered Broly after Broly went Super Saiyan, matched Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku, and forced Vegeta’s Perfected Super Saiyan Blue to keep pace with him.
But here is the catch: Gohan still cannot reliably access the form’s full strength. His anger can overflow and turn him berserk, so he uses a workaround—riding the edge of losing control without tipping over. It gives him a colossal burst of power and speed, but it drains his stamina fast.
So the fair verdict is this: Beast Gohan has top-tier raw output, possibly above Goku and Vegeta in a straight burst, but he lacks their consistency, combat polish, and stamina management. He is a nuclear reactor with a scholar’s schedule.
His Best Techniques
CBR ranked Gohan Beast’s arsenal, and the list proves one thing: Gohan does not need fifty flashy moves. He needs one devastating answer, and Piccolo taught it to him.
Special Beam Cannon — His strongest confirmed Beast technique. Gohan took Piccolo’s signature attack and used it to pierce straight through Cell Max’s core. It is not just powerful; it is a tribute to the mentor who never gave up on him.
Ultimate Kamehameha — Gohan’s strongest Kamehameha variant, and the one most likely to evolve into a Beast version. A future Beast Kamehameha against Black Frieza would be unacceptable levels of hype.
Purple Lightning Beast Kick — The upgraded version of his old Explosive Demon Impact. Gohan channels energy into a lightning-charged kick and sends the target flying. Cell Max felt this one personally.
Super Masenko — A classic Gohan attack with electric crackles and enough scaling potential to become terrifying in Beast.
Demon Flash Strike — A block-then-counter rush that lets Gohan absorb an attack and immediately retaliate with a kick. Simple, effective, and very “I read your move before you finished it.”
Super Explosive Wave — An area-clearing blast that becomes catastrophic when powered by Beast-level ki.
Gekiretsu Madan — A rapid-fire barrage of rage-fueled ki blasts from his Namek Saga days. Beast Gohan using this would be pure violence with academic citations.
Thunder Bullet — A concentrated finger-blast technique, first named in Dragon Ball Legends. Small attack, big disrespect.
Explosive Madan — A short-range Masenko variant with a much larger blast, previously used to delete Frieza’s army.
Galactic Donut — Yes, Gohan can apparently borrow Gotenks’ restraining ki rings. Beast Gohan using it would turn a team fight into a group execution.
Why Beast Matters
Beast is the payoff for decades of Gohan being told he has unlimited potential while choosing peace over power. Piccolo’s speech says it plainly: Gohan has the potential to become the most powerful being on Earth, and he needs to believe in himself enough to protect everyone.
“Gohan, listen closely! You have the potential to become the most powerful being on Earth.”
— Orange Piccolo, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero
That is the whole point. Goku found godhood through divine training. Vegeta found it through pride and obsession. Gohan found Beast because someone he loved was in danger—and because he finally stopped treating his own power like an inconvenience.
The Final Scaling Verdict
Beast Gohan is not automatically stronger than Goku. Let the UI fanboys breathe. But he is absolutely in the same conversation, with raw power that can surpass Goku’s in short bursts and enough speed to knock him out of Ultra Instinct.
Against Black Frieza, though, Gohan Beast is still an unfinished weapon. He has the ceiling, the rage, and the techniques—but not yet the control, stamina, or battle experience to carry an entire saga alone.
Which means the real dream scenario is simple: Gohan Beast, Ultra Instinct Goku, Ultra Ego Vegeta, Orange Piccolo, and Broly all stepping up together. Frieza trained for ten years. The heroes need to stop treating teamwork like a last-resort anime trope.

He has 25 reasons, three questionable calculations, and enough Saiyan pride to challenge the entire Solo Leveling fandom. 😂
